ORANJESTAD, Aruba – WEB Aruba, the island’s water and electricity utility company, announced today a partnership with Seven Seas Water Group to construct a new seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plant. The agreement, signed on April 17, 2024, is a 10-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) deal.

The new plant, named SWRO-3, will provide a minimum of 16,500 cubic meters of fresh drinking water daily. This addition is part of WEB Aruba’s long-term plan to ensure a reliable and sufficient water supply to meet Aruba’s growing demand. SWRO-3 will replace the existing temporary water production facility and is expected to be operational by mid-2026.

“This project represents a significant step forward for WEB Aruba and Aruba as a whole,” said WEB Aruba CEO Alfredo Koolman. “The new plant will significantly increase our water production capacity, guaranteeing that we can meet the current and future demand for high-quality drinking water.”

Seven Seas Water Group, a renowned provider of water solutions, was awarded the contract after a competitive bidding process in 2023. The plant will be built on WEB’s existing property.
