Activemirror: The First Aruban Band to Perform at NXNE30 Music Festival

by | Feb 27, 2025

Aruba’s music scene is making history as Activemirror becomes the first Aruban band to perform at North by Northeast (NXNE), the renowned music and arts festival in Toronto, Canada. Set to take the stage at this year’s edition of NXNE, the band will be representing Aruba on an international platform alongside some of the best emerging talents in the industry.

NXNE has been a cornerstone of Toronto’s music scene since the mid-90s, showcasing up-and-coming artists who later skyrocketed to global fame. Acts such as Lizzo, Daniel Caesar, Run the Jewels, The Lumineers, and Grimes once played the festival’s intimate venues before becoming household names. Now, Activemirror has the opportunity to captivate audiences and add Aruba’s music scene to the festival’s rich history.

The band under the label Secret Agent Music Man has been making waves locally, playing in major events such as the Aruba Art Fair and hosting their own show at Cas di Cultura. Beyond Aruba, their music has gained traction internationally, even securing airplay on Brazilian radio stations. Their talent has already been recognized in Canada, where they previously embarked on a mini-tour, performing at venues like Avant-Garde Bar, Café Dekcuf, and Queen Street Fare.

With the release of their new album, Though the Night Is Not Over, Activemirror has an exciting year ahead. Their schedule for 2025 is already filling up with performances, marking a new chapter in their musical journey.

For fans eager to catch them live before they head to Canada, the band will be performing on the 28th of February at 10 PM at Alfie’s in Aruba. Of course with the help of AweMainta, Arushots, and NPC Productions, will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Additionally, Jason Yarzagaray from Barbá Cu Dos Mic has an upcoming interview with Activemirror, where they will discuss their latest album and their journey to NXNE30. If you have any questions for the band, be sure to follow this link and submit them here.
