FBI Investigates Apparent Assassination Attempt on Trump at Florida Golf Course

by | Sep 16, 2024

In a startling development on September 15, 2024, the FBI has launched a full investigation into what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The incident unfolded at Trump International Golf Club, where Trump was playing golf when gunshots were fired in his vicinity.

According to initial reports, the shooting occurred as Trump was moving between holes five and six of the golf course. Sources indicate that the former president was not in immediate danger, as the shooter was positioned several hundred yards away. The Secret Service responded promptly, engaging with the suspect and firing shots to neutralize the threat.

Local law enforcement quickly took action. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect following a high-speed chase. The suspect was reportedly calm during the arrest and was found without a weapon at the time of detention. Authorities have since recovered a long gun linked to the incident and are continuing their investigation. The suspect’s vehicle, which was identified with the help of a witness, played a crucial role in his capture.

Following the incident, Trump’s campaign office in West Palm Beach was placed on lockdown. Although the lockdown has since been lifted, the situation prompted a significant security response. The White House confirmed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were briefed on the matter and expressed relief at Trump’s safety. In a statement, Harris condemned the violence, emphasizing that it has no place in America.

The FBI has urged the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in the investigation. Special Agent Jeffrey Veltri from the Miami field office stated that avoiding the area around the golf course is crucial as the investigation progresses.

Congressional reactions have also been swift. Rep. Michael Waltz, a Florida Republican and member of the Assassination Task Force, has called for a briefing by the Secret Service to discuss the incident further. This follows a previous attempt on Trump’s life in July 2024, underscoring ongoing concerns about security threats against high-profile figures.

The Secret Service, working alongside local authorities, has taken the lead in the investigation. They have confirmed that Trump was accompanied by donor Steve Witkoff during the incident. Despite the chaos, Trump has reassured his supporters through a fundraising email, declaring, “I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He expressed his determination to continue his political activities and thanked his supporters for their unwavering support.

As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on determining the motive behind the assassination attempt and ensuring the safety of all involved. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
