Israel Responds to Lebanon Attack With an “Extensive Wave of Attacks”

by | Feb 15, 2024

Israel has launched retaliatory strikes on Lebanon after the death of one woman who had been killed in northern Israel by a “rocket barrage” fired from Lebanon.

The IDF has said eight people have been wounded in a rocket attack in the northern city of Safed. Lebanon launched about ten rockets toward Israel, targeting a nearby military base.

One of the rockets hit a home, causing the casualties, while another two were intercepted.

Salman Zarka, the director of the Ziv Medical Centre, said the injured people were brought to the medical facility in light to mild condition, but one “appeared to have a head injury from shrapnel that penetrated the skull.”

“We are right now preparing to evacuate him with a helicopter together with the army to a hospital with neurosurgery [capacities],” he added.

Israel Defence Forces Respond With Missle Strikes

In a statement, the IDF said: “A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck a series of Hezbollah terror targets in the areas of Jabal el Braij, Houneh, Dunin, Aadchit and Souaneh.

Among the targets struck were military compounds, operational control rooms, and terror infrastructure used by Hezbollah terrorists.”

They also added that among the targets, Several belonged to the Redwan Forces. This attack led to the death of a woman, two children, and many more injured in a village in the south of Lebanon, two security sources said earlier. Media reports in Lebanon said buildings were on fire as attacks targeted some villages.

All of this is happening while the Israeli president is preparing to enter Rafah, against all the pleads not to do so, including Egypt, NATO, and the United States. The World Health Organization (WHO) has pleaded with Israel not to carry out the incursion, saying it will be a “serious disaster.”

An attack on Rafah will be a complete disaster for the Palestinian refugees who escaped the Gaza attacks. Innocent civilians, including more than thousands of women and children, have nowhere else to go, so a ground invasion from the IDF will be a humanitarian crisis on a grander scale. Egypt is also afraid the war can “leak” towards their border, causing an even bigger conflict.
