Casemiro Omitted from Brazil Squad for Copa America.

by | May 13, 2024

Manchester United’s Casemiro finds himself excluded from Brazil’s squad for the upcoming Copa America tournament, marking a significant omission in coach Dorival Jr’s selection. Despite boasting 75 caps for Brazil, the 32-year-old midfielder has faced a challenging season at Old Trafford, leading to his absence from the 23-man roster.

In addition to Casemiro, notable names like Tottenham’s Richarlison, Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, and Antony from Manchester United were also left out of the squad. The absence of star player Neymar was expected due to his ongoing recovery from a knee ligament injury sustained in Brazil’s previous match against Uruguay.

However, the Premier League is well represented in Brazil’s lineup, with nine players from the English top flight making the cut. This includes Liverpool’s Alisson and Manchester City’s Ederson in goal, along with Arsenal’s Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli in defense and attack, respectively.

The midfield boasts a mix of talent, featuring Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Fulham’s Andreas Pereira, Wolves’ Joao Gomes, and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.

A notable inclusion in the forward line is teenage sensation Endrick from Palmeiras, who will join Real Madrid this summer. Endrick made headlines as the youngest male goalscorer at Wembley Stadium, scoring against England in a friendly match at just 17 years and 246 days old.

The Brazil squad for the Copa America also includes a blend of experience and youth, with established names like Marquinhos from PSG and Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid alongside emerging talents like Endrick and Barcelona’s Raphinha.

As Brazil prepares to compete in the Copa America, fans eagerly anticipate the performance of this diverse and talented squad as they aim to secure success in the prestigious tournament held in the United States from June 20 to July 14.
