The first attack on Rafah happened less than 24 hours ago. A two-story house located between the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis was bombed at dawn. While searching for survivors in the rubble, five bodies were found, four of them being Palestinian children, and not one single Hamas terrorist was found.
Shortly after this attack, the IDF jets bombed several tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in Deir el-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, killing and wounding many. al-Shifa Hospital, one of the few remaining hospitals in Gaza, was also under fire as Israeli troops clashed with Palestinian freedom fighters around the hospital complex. The clash happened because the IDF blocked essential supplies from reaching the hospital, causing the death of at least 3 patients due to a lack of medical supplies. Israel has blocked the supply inflows for five days.
Rafah is the last hope for many Palestinians who were already displaced, a place that they were told to go to by the IDF to avoid the bombing of Gaza. This is the last refuge for 1.5 million displaced people in the enclave. Even though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly emphasized that a significant incursion into the southern Gaza city will come alongside a plan to evacuate civilians from Rafah. No such plan has been given.
As the attack on Rafah and Gaza continues, it is expected that many more Palestinians will be killed. With the death toll already surpassing 32k, with more than 70% being women, children, and the elderly, how many more have to die before the foreign government realizes that this is not a war to stop Hamas but a genocide to wipe out every Palestinian from land and territory that Israel claims is theirs. This is something that is already happening right now as Israel has begun demolishing houses belonging to displaced or murdered Palestinians in the West Bank and sending in Israeli settlers.
