Minister Glenbert Croes: The Government of Aruba and the Association of Consulates sign a cooperation protocol.

by | Mar 15, 2024

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Association of Consulates of Aruba, along with the Ministry of Integration, reached a cooperation protocol to provide a platform of sincere and honest support and guidance to all those who want to make a life in Aruba. With this protocol, the Consulates in Aruba will assist those who want to regulate their stay in Aruba, or those who want to request an extension of their permit or obtain their first permit. Essentially, the Consulates will assist all individuals from their respective countries with their permit requests.

This protocol will ensure that this process happens through a legitimate channel. Minister Glenbert Croes expressed extreme gratitude to all the consulates in Aruba for this cooperation, considering that in the past, many people have been abused by being charged significant sums to obtain permits without ever receiving them. Through the Consulates, this will be a platform of sincere and honest support to assist their respective communities. Those communities without Consular representation in Aruba can approach any Consulate and receive this assistance.

The minister mentioned having a conversation with one of the consuls with a long history in Aruba, and he expressed that in all his 40 years in Aruba, such a protocol has never been established. Therefore, this day, March 13, 2024, is a historic day of legitimacy, bringing a feeling of satisfaction knowing that this Government has achieved this cooperation protocol with a support platform for all those who honestly seek residency in Aruba.

This cooperation protocol was signed on March 13, 2024, by Minister of Integration Glenbert Croes and the Association of Consulates. With this protocol, the Government lays the foundation for a better Aruba for everyone, where there is no distinction, and where the brotherhood, solidarity, and unity that must exist among us all are reflected through a cooperation protocol. Minister Croes thanks everyone who contributed to reaching this protocol and for their confidence in this important cooperation protocol.
