Boxer Ryan Garcia Arrested in Beverly Hills for Alleged Hotel Damage

by | Jun 10, 2024

Boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday in Beverly Hills for allegedly causing damage to the Waldorf Astoria hotel, according to police. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. local time when Beverly Hills police responded to a call about an “intoxicated person.”

Lt. Andrew Myers of the Beverly Hills Police Department reported that hotel management accused Garcia, a registered guest, of causing approximately $15,000 in property damage to a room and the hallway. The nature of the damage was not detailed, but the 25-year-old boxing star was arrested for felony vandalism. Garcia’s attorney, Darin Chavez, mentioned that Garcia might also face charges of public intoxication.

Garcia was subsequently taken to the hospital by the Beverly Hills Fire Department for medical care. Details of the treatment he received were not disclosed.

Chavez released a statement acknowledging Garcia’s arrest and highlighted the challenging period Garcia is currently facing. “This comes at an extraordinarily challenging time for Ryan, who has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother’s health,” Chavez stated. He emphasized Garcia’s openness about his struggles with mental health and asked for public support and understanding.

Garcia, the former WBC interim lightweight champion, has a professional record of 25-1, with 20 victories by knockout. Despite his arrest, his team is asking fans to remain supportive as he navigates personal challenges.

The incident underscores the ongoing struggles Garcia has faced, both personally and professionally, and raises concerns about the impact of these issues on his career and mental well-being. As the investigation continues, the boxing community and Garcia’s fans await further updates on his situation.
