Lebanese Public Works Minister Ali Hamie told CNN that the strike had destroyed a major road connecting Lebanon to Syria, effectively cutting off the Masnaa crossing, which is located along the Beirut-Damascus international highway.

The destruction of this key transport route has already caused significant disruption, as tens of thousands of people have been using the highway to escape the ongoing Israeli bombardments. During Israel’s 2006 war with Hezbollah, the Masnaa area was similarly targeted as part of the larger Israeli military campaign to weaken Hezbollah’s hold in southern Lebanon.
