LeBron James Finds New Motivation in Playing Alongside Son Bronny

by | Oct 2, 2024 | 0 comments

LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, is entering his record-tying 22nd NBA season with a fresh sense of purpose. This year, the 39-year-old veteran is not just chasing another championship but is also fueled by the prospect of playing alongside his 19-year-old son, Bronny James. Bronny, drafted by the Lakers in June, is set to join his father on the court, a milestone that has injected new energy into LeBron’s legendary career.

LeBron expressed his excitement and “pure joy” during the Lakers’ media day, sharing that the opportunity to play with his son has revitalized his passion for the game. “It’s a lot of excitement, a pure joy, to be able to come to work every day, put in hard work with your son and watch him grow,” James said. The father-son duo is pushing each other in training, creating a unique bond that also benefits their teammates.

Beyond the familial connection, LeBron credits his recent experience playing with other NBA greats at the Olympic Games in Paris for giving him a renewed sense of vigor. After helping Team USA secure gold, James reflected on the experience of sharing the court with stars like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. “Playing with some of the best talent we’ve ever seen gives you a lot of joy,” he explained, adding that it reminded him of how much he still has to offer, even after decades in the league.

LeBron, who turns 40 in December, is known for his relentless work ethic and unmatched longevity. His performance in the Olympics showed that despite the miles he’s logged on the court, he still has plenty of fuel left in the tank. “It felt damn good to play meaningful basketball at the highest level,” James said, indicating that his competitive fire remains undiminished.

With the 2024-25 NBA season set to tip off on October 22, LeBron and Bronny will take the court together for the first time in official NBA action when the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves. As LeBron continues to chase greatness and expand his legacy, his newfound joy in sharing the game with his son may prove to be the extra push that takes him through yet another historic season.

LeBron’s commitment to excellence, both as a player and a father, sets the stage for an exciting season, not just for the Lakers but for basketball fans around the world.
