In a heartbreaking statement released on Thursday, former members of the global sensation One Direction—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson—expressed their deep sorrow over the untimely death of their former bandmate, Liam Payne, at the age of 31.

“We are completely devastated by the loss of our brother,” the four musicians wrote in a joint statement shared on the band’s official Instagram page. “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”

Payne passed away on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities in Buenos Aires have launched an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of his tragic death.

The joint statement continued: “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”

Harry Styles also shared a personal tribute on his Instagram page, reflecting on his years with Payne and the joy he brought to those around him. “I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing. His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honor to be alongside him as he did it. Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve. He had an energy for life that was infectious.”

Payne’s death has left fans and the music industry in shock, with tributes pouring in from across the globe. One Direction, which Payne was a part of from 2010 until their hiatus in 2016, was one of the most successful boy bands in history, shaping the lives of millions of fans worldwide.

Liam Payne leaves behind a legacy of music and memories that touched countless lives, and his former bandmates are united in their grief as they, along with fans, mourn the loss of a beloved friend and brother.
