Australian authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for a suspect accused of pouring hot liquid on a 9-month-old baby in Queensland. The incident, which has shocked the nation, occurred on August 27, 2024, at Hanlon Park, located in the northeastern region of Australia.

The Queensland Police Service released a statement on Monday confirming that the suspect, a 33-year-old foreign national, fled the country shortly after the assault. The police are now working closely with national and international law enforcement agencies to track down the individual responsible for this heinous act.

The incident unfolded around midday when the suspect approached a group of people in the park. Without warning, he allegedly poured hot liquid on the infant before fleeing the scene. The baby boy was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, the child has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect fleeing the scene, aiding police in identifying him as a person of interest. The Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit quickly took charge of the case, identifying the suspect and confirming that he had left the country.

Authorities have described the suspect as having tan skin and a proportionate build. At the time of the attack, he was seen wearing a black hat, glasses, a black shirt, and shorts. Police have released images of the suspect, hoping that someone may recognize him and assist in the investigation.

The Queensland Police Service has urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. The seriousness of the crime has led to an extensive manhunt, with authorities determined to bring the suspect to justice.

As the investigation progresses, Australian police continue to collaborate with international partners to ensure the suspect is apprehended and held accountable for this disturbing crime. The case has sparked widespread concern and outrage, with many calling for swift action to ensure such an incident is never repeated.
