Zandvoort Readies for the 2024 Formula 1 Grand Prix

by | Aug 21, 2024

As the 2024 Formula 1 Grand Prix approaches, Zandvoort is buzzing with excitement and ready to host the prestigious event once again. Scheduled to take place from August 23 to 25, the seaside town has been preparing extensively to ensure a memorable experience for visitors and participants alike.

On August 17, Mayor David Moolenburgh and Formula 1 alderman Jan Jaap de Kloet showcased the town’s festive preparations to national and local media. The streets of Zandvoort are adorned with the iconic black-and-white checkered flags, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm for the upcoming race. Local businesses and residents have joined in the celebrations, decorating their homes, shops, and establishments to create a vibrant atmosphere.

The Grand Prix, which kicks off on Sunday, August 25 at 15:00, promises to be an exhilarating event. While local fans are hopeful for a victory by Max Verstappen, the competition is expected to be fierce, with Verstappen facing increasingly serious challengers, according to alderman de Kloet.

Beyond the racetrack, Zandvoort offers a variety of attractions for visitors. The local hospitality industry is gearing up to welcome guests with open doors, and the Badhuisplein will feature a modest fair, including the traditional Ferris wheel and the Dragon roller coaster. For families, there’s a new children’s karting circuit located between Boulevard de Favauge and Burgemeester van Fennemaplein. The electric karts, including tandem options for adults and children, provide an opportunity for all ages to experience the thrill of racing. Residents of the Nieuw Unicum care home had the chance to enjoy the karting experience earlier this week.

To enhance safety and visibility, Zandvoort has installed additional security cameras around the town. Due to ongoing construction, a pedestrian bridge will be closed, directing more visitors from the NS station through the boulevard to the circuit. The community’s preparations underscore their commitment to delivering an exceptional Formula 1 experience.
