Pierre Gasly Commits to Alpine with Multi-Year Contract Extension

by | Jun 27, 2024 | 0 comments

Pierre Gasly has solidified his future with Alpine by signing a new contract that extends his tenure with the Formula 1 team until the end of 2025. Alpine confirmed the multi-year agreement, emphasizing their commitment to long-term success. Gasly, who joined Alpine last season after his stint with AlphaTauri, expressed his pride and excitement for the continued partnership.

“The story continues,” Gasly announced on X. “I am incredibly proud to announce that I have signed a new contract with Alpine. The team and I are dedicated to achieving our ambitions in Formula 1 together.” He added, “We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am more motivated than ever. We’re going full throttle!” This marks an important milestone in Gasly’s career as he gears up for his second season with the team.

The contract extension comes amidst significant changes within the Alpine team. Esteban Ocon, who has been with Alpine for five years, will be leaving at the end of 2024. Ocon’s departure opens up speculation about his replacement, with 21-year-old Australian Jack Doohan being a strong candidate. Doohan, currently a reserve driver for Alpine and the son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan, is seen as a potential successor. Additionally, former team boss Flavio Briatore’s return as a top advisor has sparked rumors about Carlos Sainz joining the team.

In other team news, Aston Martin confirmed that Lance Stroll will remain with the team for the foreseeable future. This announcement, while expected, dispels any rumors about Stroll considering retirement. The 25-year-old Canadian driver, son of team owner Lawrence Stroll, has been with Aston Martin since 2019 and has shown consistent performance, including two podium finishes in 2020 and a top ten finish last season.

As the Formula 1 season progresses, the upcoming races will be crucial for both Alpine and Aston Martin. The Austrian Grand Prix this weekend will be followed by races in Great Britain, Hungary, and Belgium, with the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort scheduled for August 25. Both Gasly and Stroll will be looking to make significant impacts as they secure their positions and aim for success in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.
