Jadon Sancho rolled back the years with a dazzling performance as Borussia Dortmund secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.
Sancho, who returned to Dortmund on loan in January after a challenging stint at Manchester United, looked revitalized on the wing. He tormented the PSG defense throughout the night, completing a staggering 12 dribbles – the most by a player in a Champions League semi-final since Lionel Messi in 2008.
While Niclas Füllkrug’s first-half strike proved to be the winner, it was Sancho’s playmaking and creativity that stole the show. He was a constant thorn in the Parisians’ side, setting up scoring opportunities and weaving past defenders with ease.
“Can’t get over how STUPENDOUS Jadon was tonight,” exclaimed Borussia Dortmund on their social media.
Despite Dortmund’s dominance, PSG remained a threat. Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi both came agonizingly close to equalizing, only to be denied by the woodwork.
The win gives Dortmund a slender advantage going into the second leg at the Parc des Princes next week. However, with a potent attack at their disposal, PSG will be confident of turning the tie around on home soil.
