The Directorate of Foreign Relations of Aruba informs:

by | Mar 16, 2024

This is a message directed towards Dutch citizens currently in Haiti.

The situation in Haiti:

The Government of Aruba, together with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is closely monitoring the events unfolding in Haiti. The situation in the country, particularly in the capital Port-au-Prince, is deteriorating and a cause for concern.

Registration for Dutch citizens in Haiti:

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly urges all Dutch citizens currently in Haiti to register with the information service. This will allow the Dutch authorities to track the number of Dutch citizens in the country and keep them updated on any developments. Additionally, registration can facilitate assistance, such as potential evacuation opportunities.

Previous actions:

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already contacted some Dutch residents in Haiti by phone. These efforts revealed a limited number of Dutch citizens currently residing there, and no requests for assistance have been received so far.

Travel advice and recent updates:

On March 5th, the Dutch government issued a negative travel advice for Haiti, recommending those already in the country to leave. On March 7th, registered Dutch citizens received a message.

Important note:

The Netherlands does not have an embassy in Haiti. Services for Dutch citizens in Haiti are provided by the Dutch embassy in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the support of the Honorary Consul of Haiti in Port-au-Prince.
