Hollywood is mourning the loss of rising star Chance Perdomo, who passed away on March 30th, 2024, at the age of 27 from a motorcycle accident. Perdomo was best known for his roles as Andre Anderson on Amazon’s Gen V and Ambrose Spellman on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The news sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with Perdomo’s co-stars taking to social media to share their grief and celebrate his life. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who starred alongside Perdomo in Gen V, wrote on a social media platform [X], “This hurts. A lot. What a young talented actor, and a great friend – gone way too soon.”
Lucy Davis, who played Perdomo’s aunt on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, echoed this sentiment on Instagram. “Playing his aunt on Sabrina was like I had a brother on set with me,” she shared. “He was so cheeky and joined me in all the prank playing. And although we laughed a lot, you could have really deep and soulful conversations with Chance.”
The Gen V cast released a joint statement remembering Perdomo as a “dear friend” with an “insatiable appetite for life.” His warmth and talent were highlighted by many who knew him.
Perdomo’s path to Hollywood wasn’t typical. Though born in Los Angeles, he grew up in Southampton, England. Initially drawn to law, he surprised everyone by pursuing acting instead. Fueled by his passion, he saved money from working at a shoe shop and cinema before moving to London to hone his craft at the National Youth Theatre and Identity School of Acting.
His talent was undeniable. Early roles in British shows like “The Midsomer Murders” and “Killed by My Debt” (which even earned him a BAFTA nomination) showcased his range. But it was his portrayal of the sardonic yet sensitive Ambrose Spellman in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina that brought him international recognition. The role, a fan favorite, spanned four seasons and solidified his place as a rising star.
Perdomo wasn’t afraid to take on diverse projects. He stepped into the shoes of heartthrob Landon Gibson in the popular “After” film series, showcasing his ability to charm audiences in a completely different genre. His final role, Andre Anderson in Gen V, promised to be another transformative one, delving into the world of superheroes.
Perdomo’s death has reportedly caused a delay in production for season two of Gen V. Many fans are wondering what the future holds for the series without him.
Chance Perdomo’s career was on a meteoric rise. His passing is a significant loss to the industry. The outpouring of love from his colleagues suggests a bright and well-liked talent who will be deeply missed.
