Under the leadership of Evelyn Wever-Croes, accompanied by party candidates and the lively sounds of a brass band, the new flag of Aruba was unfurled for the first time. This monumental occasion marked a significant milestone for Aruba, symbolizing the island’s enduring commitment to freedom and prosperity.

Addressing the enthusiastic audience, Wever-Croes expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those in attendance, emphasizing the importance of preserving and honoring Aruba’s national symbols. She recounted the historical journey towards independence, highlighting the visionary leadership of Mr. Gilberto François ‘Betico’ Croes and the enduring spirit of the Aruban people in their quest for freedom.

“We celebrate today the freedom of our people and the cherished symbols of our identity,” Wever-Croes remarked, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by previous generations to secure Aruba’s anthem and flag.

The raising of the colossal flag, which soared majestically into the night sky, symbolized not only the unity of the Aruban people but also their unwavering commitment to freedom and prosperity. As the flag reached its zenith, the crowd erupted into a rendition of the national anthem, “Aruba Dushi Tera,” echoing across the square in a chorus of national pride.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude from Wever-Croes to all attendees, emphasizing Aruba’s dedication to upholding this cherished tradition for generations to come.

The unveiling of the largest flag of Aruba served as a poignant reminder of the island’s rich heritage and the enduring legacy of those who fought tirelessly for its independence.
