Youth Health Care and Wit Gele Kruis Sign Agreement for Information Exchange on Child Development and Health

by | Feb 16, 2024

Youth Health Care, also known as Jeugdgezondsheidszorg (JGZ), has joined hands with Wit Gele Kruis to sign an agreement for exchanging information related to the health and development of children aged 0-5 in Aruba. The aim of this agreement is to ensure continuity in guidance, development, and health care for our children and adolescents.

Since 1975, Wit Gele Kruis has been utilizing the expertise of JGZ’s “Jeugdartsen” to monitor and follow the development of each child aged 0 to 5 at WGK. After the age of 5, the child automatically continues to be monitored by JGZ at primary and secondary schools. Through this agreement, professionals from JGZ will be able to receive and share information via an electronic file (EKD/Elektronisch Kind Dossier JGZ) for better continuity of care for children aged 5 to 22. Additionally, this information can be analyzed to develop or adapt management strategies for general health prevention.

In the long term, this agreement will contribute to creating healthier adults, leading to a reduction in curative care needs by implementing specific prevention plans. This reduction in chronic illnesses caused by our lifestyle choices can be achieved through concrete prevention strategies.

The signing of this agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing the healthcare system’s efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring that children receive comprehensive and continuous care from infancy through adolescence. By leveraging the expertise of both Youth Health Care and Wit Gele Kruis, Aruba aims to foster a healthier future generation and reduce the burden of preventable diseases on its healthcare system.
